I'm not so sure we are getting off to a good start. Is it really possible to talk about justifying private property in general? Doesn't everything depend on the historical context and the kind of property we're talking about? Is water the same as apples and sheep? Are stocks and patents the same as land?

Philosophers can talk about property in the abstract, but I think it's pointless.
